Events at Odori site and Satoland site

A variety of events take place at the Odori site and the Satoland site during the festival.

Events organized by the Executive Committee

Opening Ceremony

Date and Time: February 5 (Tue) 10:30a.m. ~
Ceremony Site:  On the stage of the large snow sculpture, “Ancient Egypt Site” in ‘HBC Egypt Square’ (Odori Park, Nishi 7 chome)
Program: 
  • Musical Performance by the Self Defense Forces Band
  • Presentation of the Letter of Thanks
  • Greeting by the Mayor of Sapporo
  • Introduction of VIP
  • Presentation of Memento and Bouquet
  • Introduction of ‘Miss ~’ from all over Japan

The 35th International Snow Statue Contest

 
Participating Teams:

15 teams

United States of America, Guam, Sweden, Novosibirsk (sister city),  Portland city (sister city), Singapore, Thailand, People’s Republic of China, New Zealand, Hawaii, Finland, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Lithuania ,Japan

Team Composition: A team consists of three people including the team leader.
Contest Site: Odori, Nishi 11 chome
Schedule: February 2Meeting of the participating teams
Welcome party
February 3 Opening Ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. at Nishi 11 chome
Each team starts working on their snow statue.
February 6  All snow statues for the contest to be completed.
February 7  Judges decide the prize winners.
Award Ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. at Yomiuri Square,
Nishi 4 chome

  • Ice Sculpture Contest 
    Each team starts working on their ice sculpture from 14:30 on February 5 and finishes before 10:30 in the following morning. 
    Award Ceremony takes place at 11:00 on February 6.  Venue: Robinson’s
  • Ice Statue Popularity Vote   
    You can vote for the best ice statue during the festival.
  • Closing Ceremony
